

On April 26–27, 2023, the Bachelor of Arts in Communication celebrated Communication Day with the theme, “COMMpanionship: a period of showcasing talents and strengthening COMMunications.”
The Comm arranged and aired the opening session of COMM Day on the UA-Communication Society Facebook page. Soc. officers. They talked about the COMM Day custom as a time for communication students to look ahead and see what area of the vast field of communication they could have something to think about. It also marks the start of the COMMaraderie Festival of Talents, where students competed in the categories of radio drama, short film, short and sweet play, and broadcasting to demonstrate their talents.
The event’s second day began in the morning in the CMS function hall. The program was introduced by Mr. Julian Rodolfo Ordanel III, President of the Communication Society. He gave a stirring welcoming speech and was followed by applause and shouts from the corresponding students at each year level.
Additionally, Dr. Cecilia O. Salvilla, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, inspired the students in communication with the following words: “As one BA COMMunity, the great communication begins with COMMconnections by sharing your talents and abilities… We UAens don’t settle for less, but via these initiatives, I have no doubt that we will create excellent graduates who find employment not just in the Philippines but also abroad.
The event’s resourceful speakers included Mr. Edward Peters, Station Manager of 88.5 FM- Radyo Kaimaw, who offered his knowledge and inspirational words with the COMMrades, and Mr. Jack Lord Mayor Suson, who spoke on Visual Communication.
Additionally, the hunt for Mr. and Mrs. COMM 2023 was the most thrilling aspect of the evening event, which was resumed at the University of Antique Cultural Center (PaghiUsA Hall).
The event began with a runway challenge on the red carpet, where all of the COMMrades dressed to impress with BA Communications Faculty, Alumni, and Special Guests.
One of the night’s highlights is the film screening, which reveals the hidden skills of BA Communication students.
Out of the 14 submissions for short films, “Bumbilya,” from BA Comm 2A, was chosen as the winner. The director of the aforementioned movie, Janea Cazeas, also won awards for “Best Editor” and “Best Scriptwriter,” while Angel Danya Canja Paparo of BA Comm 3A received the “Best Director” honor.
Additionally, during The Search for Mr. and Miss Communication 2023, another notable aspect of the event, Mr. Robert Nietes of BA COMM 2A was named Mr. Communication 2023 and Ms. Fema S. Galicia of BA Comm 4A was named Miss Communication 2023.
The program head, prof. Shella S. Sandoy, expresses her appreciation to the BA COMM students for making the event a success.
